Former NFL star Cris Carter rails against Shedeur Sanders' decision-making throughout NFL Draft process

The 2025 NFL Draft brought its fair share of surprises, but the Shedeur Sanders saga became a hotly debated topic.

The Cleveland Browns selected Sanders in the fifth round. Shortly after the selection, Sanders took to social media to share a short but emotional message: “Thank you GOD.” In the days since, many figures in the sports world and beyond have shared thoughts about why Sanders fell down the draft boards.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter is one of the latest former NFL stars to weigh in on the Sanders situation.

In what appeared to be his unfiltered take, Carter suggested Sanders sacrificed tens of millions of dollars due to his disposition and overall handling leading up to last week’s draft.

SHEDEUR SANDERS REVEALS DAD’S REACTION AS HE FELL TO 5TH ROUND OF NFL DRAFT

“(Sheduer and his family) thinking that he was in the same evaluation mode as Eli Manning, they didn’t play that right,” Carter said during a recent sitdown on the “Fully Loaded” podcast.

“Them trying to narrow the teams that he was going to go to? That didn’t go right. Not working out at the Combine? That wasn’t the right thing. His interview process. Obviously, he could’ve done a lot better than that. A lot of people left meetings feeling he was very, very entitled.”

The NFL legend also pushed back on the notion that the league colluded to prevent Sanders from becoming a high draft pick. Carter asserted that the former Colorado quarterback and his family “overplayed their hand.”

“A number of things happened. The No. 1 thing that didn’t happen was there was not a collusion message with the NFL owners,” Carter stated. “They wouldn’t be able to keep a secret like that. They wouldn’t be able to shut up about it. Every owner is very, very selfish. Now, why would I do something to my detriment? Like, if I need a quarterback, and I think this kid is it? What he didn’t realize is, the guys that have fallen in the draft before, they all had unusual traits. They had some superstar qualities to them. Some other things happened that made them fall, but Shedeur and his family overplayed their hand.”

Carter did admit Sanders had intangibles that were worthy of a first-round pick, but not before he took aim at the quarterback’s physical traits.

“He doesn’t have a big-time arm. He’s not a big guy. He’s not overly athletic. His measurables are not, say, first-round measurables. But he played football like a first-rounder. … But you don’t play football all the time. You’re a human-being the rest of the time,” Carter said.

Sanders finished the 2024 season with 4,134 passing yards. He is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders. He will join a crowded quarterback room in Cleveland that features Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.

Good news for Londoners, as Ikea is set to open on Oxford Street tomorrow (Picture: Clevershot)

Tomorrow a breath of fresh air will hit Oxford Street, as IKEA opens a new store for those in the capital to shop for new tables and even try a few meatballs.

The Grade II listed 214 Oxford Street has been gutted to make room for the Swedish furniture giant, which will take over 5,800 square meters over three floors.

It was once home to the Topshop shop, but rather than decently priced jeans and random DJs, customers can now expect showrooms designed by Londoners.

Even a broadcasting studio has been opened in the store, which will host exhibitions and host interactive experiences.

It has been a long time coming too, with IKEA first buying the site for £378 million in October 2021.

This is just the latest of announcements to try and bring Oxford Street back to my former glory.

Londoners have repeatedly complained the iconic road has been riddled with American Candy Stores and derelict buildings.

What will the new Ikea shop on Oxford Street look like?

Curated shops – On the Ground Floor are three ‘Curated Shops’; shopping edits created by Londoners that reflect and celebrate the character and diversity of the city’s residents.

IKEA’s iconic showroom – In IKEA Oxford Street spaces and roomsets have been created with real people based on their own homes in the capital. This includes working from home set ups and running a small business and concepts for relaxing balcony spaces.

Design Services – Customers can find IKEA’s usual design support, including for interior design, kitchen, and bedroom storage planning.

Swedish Deli – IKEA’s Oxford Street will include a 130-seater Swedish Deli. Classic dishes will be available including hot dogs from £0.85 and main course favourites such as eight and 12 piece meatballs or plantballs for as little as £4.95.

New (and used) spaces – In a global first for IKEA, the Oxford Street store will feature a Live Studio with broadcasting capabilities. The new store will also have a Re-Shop and Re-Use section, an area to shop second-life, second-hand and discontinued IKEA products.

Delivery services – Small furniture items will be available to take home from the store immediately, with around 3,500 IKEA products ready to go. For larger items that can’t quite fit in IKEA’s famous blue bag, shoppers can order in store to be delivered to their home.

In January, Park House, which is home to Pandora, Swarovski, Urban Outfitters, Bershka and the flagship River Island store, said the retailers are trying to cancel their lease.

Microsoft has also announced they will be closing down their Oxford Street store to focus on ‘digital growth’ after opening the 21,000 sq ft shop six years ago.

In February Mayor of London Sadiq Khan announced his plan plan to ban traffic on London’s Oxford Street ‘to become more like Paris’ is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Mr Khan said: ‘It’s fantastic news that IKEA is opening a new flagship store on Oxford Street. It’s a huge vote of confidence in London, in our economy and in our plans to rejuvenate Oxford Street and unlock its true potential.

‘Oxford Street is one of the most famous shopping destinations in the world and we want to give it a new lease of life. This involves attracting brilliant companies like IKEA, which will help to create new jobs and increase footfall.

Trump repeatedly walked back tariffs in first 100 days as White House announces latest duty tax relief

President Donald Trump has championed tariffs as the economic tool that will bring parity to the nation’s chronic trade deficit with foreign countries while boosting U.S. jobs and the economy. But many of Trump’s tariff polices have been walked back or paused after going into effect.

“I will immediately begin the overhaul of our trade system to protect American workers and families. Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump declared in his inaugural address Jan. 20, teeing up an onslaught of tariff policies that will take effect in the coming weeks and months.

Tariffs are taxes levied on imported goods and services that historically have contributed to a nation’s federal tax revenue. Developed countries, however, have since moved away from relying on tariffs as a main source of federal funding and have shifted to other forms of taxes — such as income, payroll or sales taxes.

On Tuesday, which marked Trump’s 100th day back in the Oval Office, Trump signed an executive action easing tariffs targeting car manufacturers as he headed to Michigan, historically the heart of the American auto industry, for a rally celebrating his return to the White House.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S FIRST 100 DAYS: COMPANIES THAT WILL INVEST $1B OR MORE IN THE US

The upcoming auto plan will keep a 25% tariff on imported cars and a 25% tariff on imported auto parts but will offer offset credits to U.S. manufacturers for a two-year period in an effort to bolster the U.S. supply chain of car parts and encourage manufacturing in the U.S., according to the administration.

The plan will also not stack both auto and steel and aluminum tariffs on the auto industry. Only the higher tariff will be applied to car manufacturers, not a combined tariff.

The announcement is the latest of Trump walking back, pausing or easing tariffs as he looks to even the trade playing field for the U.S., while encouraging U.S. manufacturing and job creation. Industries that manufacture products on U.S. soil do not face any tariffs.

A White House official who spoke to Fox News Digital explained that while the past few months of tariff changes might seem chaotic in their entirety, each change was born out of a need to be flexible and an effort to bring manufacturing and jobs into the U.S. while ending the nation’s chronic trade deficit. The official noted that, as tariffs took effect, many nations and industry leaders have made good-faith efforts to negotiate terms favorable to the U.S., adding to the tariff changes.

AMAZON DENIES TARIFF PRICING PLAN THAT WHITE HOUSE CALLED ‘HOSTILE AND POLITICAL’

Trump’s tariff policies overwhelmingly focused on China, Mexico and Canada at the start of his second administration, as he looked to crack down on illegal immigration. It also was an attempt to stem the flow of the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl, which overwhelmingly originates in China, from coming across the northern and southern borders.

Citing the threat of illegal aliens in the U.S. and the flow of fentanyl, Trump declared a national emergency in February under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% additional tariff on imports from China.

The tariffs sparked swift outrage from the three nations, and Trump paused the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for 30 days after the nations agreed to concessions, such as sending additional security personnel to their respective borders with the U.S.

China, on the other hand, imposed tariffs on some U.S. imports in response to Trump’s tariffs. China’s Finance Ministry said Feb. 4, shortly after the tariffs started, that it would impose a tariff of 15% for coal and liquefied natural gas and 10% for crude oil, agricultural equipment and large-engine cars imported from the U.S.

GROCERY GIANT WARNS ITS SUPPLIERS THAT SUPERMARKET WON’T BE ACCEPTING TARIFF-RELATED PRICE HIKES

The administration official who spoke to Fox Digital pointed to the tariff changes for Mexico and Canada as part of negotiations to secure the border after Trump declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

The tariffs on Mexico and Canada went into effect March 4 after the pause, while the tariffs on China were increased to 20%. A day later, after speaking with auto industry officials from Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, Trump walked back the tariffs if they affected the auto industry, granting a one-month exemption to tariffs “on any autos” from the two countries that abide by the 2020 U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement’s rules of origin.

Those rules were established under the first Trump administration, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a  news conference at the time.

On March 6, Trump again walked back the 25% tariffs on many imports from Canada and Mexico while praising Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for helping secure the U.S.-Mexico border. He postponed the tariffs for 30 days and touted that his highly anticipated reciprocal tariff plan would take effect in the coming weeks.

DONALD TRUMP SHOULD BE PRAISED FOR SIGNALS HE MIGHT COOL TARIFF FIGHT, WASHINGTON POST EDITORIAL PRAISES

“I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum,” Trump said on Truth Social of the March 6 tariff pause. “Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border.”

While announcing and imposing tariffs on nations such as Mexico and Canada, Trump previewed a reciprocal tariff plan that would take effect April 2.

“On trade I have decided for purposes of fairness, that I will charge a reciprocal tariff — meaning whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them no more, no less,” Trump said at the White House in February. “In other words, they charge us a tax or tariff, and we charge them the exact same tax or tariff. Very simple.”

Trump announced his highly anticipated reciprocal tariff plan as part of his “Liberation Day” announcement April 2. Trump announced customized tariffs on dozens of nations to help bring parity to what he said were decades of foreign nations installing trade barriers on U.S. goods, while also imposing a 10% baseline tariff on all countries.

For nations that treat us badly, we will calculate the combined rate of all their tariffs, nonmonetary barriers and other forms of cheating,” he said. “And because we are being very kind, we will charge them approximately half of what they are and have been charging us. So, the tariffs will be not a full reciprocal. I could have done that. Yes. But it would have been tough for a lot of countries.”

TRUMP SAYS INCOME TAX CUTS, AND PERHAPS ELIMINATION, COMING DUE TO TARIFFS

The EU for example, was hit with a 20% tariff in the reciprocal tariff plan, compared to its 39% tariffs on the U.S., while Japan saw 24% tariffs compared to the 46% the country charges the U.S. China was hit with an additional 34% tariff, compared to the 67% it charges the U.S.

The same day the reciprocal tariffs were about to take effect April 9, Trump announced a 90-day pause on the customized duty taxes he had imposed on dozens of nations, which was an abrupt change of course from his previous comments that there would be no pause to those tariffs, only negotiations. The pause did not include the 10% baseline tariff on all nations.

“You have to have flexibility,” Trump told the media when asked about his credibility after pausing the tariffs. “I could say there’s a wall. … Sometimes, you have to go around or under the wall. Financial markets change. Look how much they changed. I think the word would be ‘flexible.’ You have to be flexible.”

White House officials told Fox News Digital at the time that dozens of countries had reached out to the White House looking to make good-faith deals, and that the administration was zeroing in on renegotiating more favorable deals for the U.S.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated in recent days that trade negotiations with at least South Korea and India are entering the final stages.

Other tariffs, such as a 25% tax on all steel and aluminum imports or the 10% baseline tariff on foreign nations, have remained in effect without change.

Trump has touted that with increased revenue from tariffs, U.S. citizens could see lower taxes and the possible elimination of the income tax.

“When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated. Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social April 13.

“Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created, with new plants and factories currently being built or planned. It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!! THE EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE IS HAPPENING!!!”

Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan 'temporarily relieved of her official duties' by Wisconsin Supreme Court

The Wisconsin Supreme Court issued an administrative order on Tuesday calling for Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan to be “temporarily relieved of her official duties.”

Dugan was arrested and charged with obstruction of an official proceeding on Friday after evidence came to light that she had shielded an illegal immigrant from federal agents, according to a criminal complaint. She was also charged with concealing an individual to prevent discovery and arrest.

The order on Tuesday reads that Dugan “is temporarily prohibited from exercising the powers of a circuit court judge in the State of Wisconsin.”

WISCONSIN JUDGE THREATENS COURTROOM BOYCOTT OVER HANNAH DUGAN ARREST

The state Supreme Court said the order will remain in effect “until further order of the court.”

The Wisconsin Court System confirmed with Fox News on Tuesday afternoon that Dugan will not return to the bench this week, adding that her caseload will be covered by other judges.

Dugan is expected back in federal court on May 15 to face federal charges of felony obstruction of a federal agency and concealing a person to help them avoid arrest, which is a misdemeanor.

The FBI arrested Dugan on Friday for allegedly hiding a previously deported illegal immigrant in her jury room to stop him from being arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Federal agents from ICE, FBI, CBP and DEA attempted to arrest Mexican national Eduardo Flores-Ruiz after his scheduled criminal court appearance before Dugan on April 18 to face three misdemeanor battery charges for allegedly beating up two people.

Dugan demanded that the officers proceed to the chief judge’s office and, after his hearing ended, escorted Flores-Ruiz and his attorney out a restricted jury door, bypassing the public area where agents were waiting in order to help him avoid arrest, per the complaint.

Dugan appeared in federal court in Milwaukee on Friday and made no public comments during the brief hearing, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Her attorney, Craig Mastantuono, told the court, “Judge Dugan wholeheartedly regrets and protests her arrest. It was not made in the interest of public safety.”

Dugan disputed the accuracy of local reports that claimed she had shielded the illegal immigrant from ICE.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Dugan had responded to the accusations in its publication last Tuesday, writing, “Nearly every fact regarding the ‘tips’ in your email is inaccurate.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi blasted Dugan’s actions on Fox’s “America Reports.”

“We could not believe that a judge really did that,” Bondi said. “You cannot obstruct a criminal case. And really, shame on her. It was a domestic violence case of all cases, and she’s protecting a criminal defendant over victims of crime.”

Bondi said Flores-Ruiz beat up two people, “a guy and a girl.”

“[He] beat the guy, hit the guy 30 times, knocked him to the ground, choked him, beat up a woman so badly; they both had to go to the hospital,” she said.

Israeli foreign minister slams UN, calls it 'rotten, anti-Israel, and antisemitic body'

Israel’s foreign minister slammed the United Nations on Monday as the organization’s court opened a hearing on Israel’s legal responsibilities in Gaza.

Gidon Sa’ar said that the U.N. is a “rotten, anti-Israel, and antisemitic body,” which ought to be on trial for covering up terror affiliates within the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), who he said participated in the attacks of Oct. 7 2023. “The U.N. must answer for these crimes,” Sa’ar said.

He told reporters that Israel had decided “not to take part in this circus,” which is intended to deprive Israel of its “most basic right to defend itself.”

OFFICIALS IN BIDEN ADMIN WORKED TO UNDERMINE NETANYAHU AFTER CEASEFIRE TALKS COLLAPSED, FORMER AIDE SAYS

“Secretary-General [Antonio] Guterres is personally accountable. He knew what was going on in UNRWA. He knew very well and he knows very well. Israel repeatedly warned him. He did nothing. He went out of his way to whitewash UNRWA. He continues to cover up the crimes of UNRWA and its terrorist employees.”

Jewish News Syndicate reported that Sa’ar later presented evidence that 25% of UNRWA staff “were implicated in terrorist activity” prior to Oct. 7, 2023.  Sa’ar said that UNRWA is a proxy of the terror group Hamas.

Fox News Digital reached out to Guterres’ spokesperson seeking comment on Sa’ar’s accusations, but did not get a response.

In a statement to the press on Monday, Guterres’ spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, told a reporter that he didn’t “think the Secretary General is a big fan of a circus.” Calling the presentation to the ICJ “extremely detailed and very clear and very legal,” he also said that Guterres was “very clear [and] straightforward” when the U.N. “first revealed the Israeli allegations against UNRWA.” Dujarric said that UNRWA Commissioner-General Phillipe Lazzarini “took extremely quick action” responding to the complaints.

HEAD OF UN WATCHDOG SAYS UNRWA HIRED PEOPLE ‘WHO WERE SUPPORTING TERRORISM’

Lazzarini terminated the appointments of some of the UNRWA staffers who participated in the Oct. 7 attacks.

Dujarric also noted the “depletion of critical stocks” in Gaza since Israel blocked all aid to Gaza in March in an attempt to force a ceasefire with Hamas. Not only is food running out, but Dujarric said that trauma-related medical supplies, surgical supplies, therapeutic milk, medicines, and other important items are in short supply.

In a statement regarding the ICJ hearings on April 28, U.N. Legal Counsel Elinor Hammarskjöld outlined the U.N.’s concerns about Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories. Referencing the Israeli Knesset’s law banning UNRWA’s operation, passed in October 2024, she stated that Israel cannot deny impartial humanitarian organizations from providing relief, and that concerns about the impartiality of such organizations may not be made unilaterally by an occupying power.

Hammarskjöld also said that U.N. premises are “inviolable,” per the Geneva Convention, and “immune from search, requisition, confiscation, expropriation, or any other form of interference.”

In February, however, the State of Israel’s statement on the ICJ’s proceedings noted various incidents that demonstrate how UNRWA has violated the guiding principles of “neutrality, impartiality, and independence” mandated by the U.N.

Israel’s statement also lays out a variety of times when terrorist organizations “use and exploit UNRWA installations as hideouts and places of refuge” and claims agency staff “have assisted or closed their eyes to terrorists seeking refuge at those sites.” The U.S. suspended aid to UNRWA after learning that some of its members participated in the Oct. 7 attack.

On April 24, the U.S. Justice Department determined that UNRWA, as a specialized agency of the U.N., is not entitled to diplomatic immunity in the U.S. In a lawsuit filed in June 2024 in the Southern District of New York, 100 victims of the Oct. 7 attack are seeking $1 billion in damages from UNRWA. Lazzarini is a named defendant in the suit.

Trump touts 'most successful' first 100 days in presidential history during Michigan rally

President Donald Trump touted the first 100 days of his second term as the “most successful” of any administration in history during a Michigan rally with supporters Tuesday evening.

The president’s remarks came during Trump’s first major political rally since taking office, organized to celebrate Trump’s achievements throughout his second term thus far.

“We’re here tonight in the heartland of our nation to celebrate the most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country — and that’s according to many, many people,” Trump told a roaring crowd of supporters. “This is the best, they say, 100-day start of any president in history, and everyone is saying it.

PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT: HOW TRUMP’S FIRST 100 DAYS STACK UP AGAINST INAUGURATION DAY PLEDGES

“We’ve just gotten started. You haven’t seen anything yet. It’s just kicking off.”

Trump’s first 100 days of his second term have seen the president aggressively assert his executive authority across a variety of policy areas. He has used his presidential powers to to bring change to border security, trade, education, civil rights, technology and innovation.

Trump has also notably used his executive powers to slim down the federal government’s bureaucracy, including through both spending and staffing cuts at various federal agencies.

“I read an editorial today that this is the most consequential presidency in history, and it wasn’t even by a group that would normally be supporting us,” Trump added during his address to supporters, without clarifying where the editorial originated. “It was a group of people that I think tend to be on the liberal side, but they said it’s the most important election.”

While Trump supporters and Republicans have touted the president’s accomplishments during his first 100 days, Trump’s latest poll numbers suggest Americans are less thrilled with the way Trump has steered the nation.

The president stands at 44% approval and 55% disapproval in the most recent Fox News national poll, which was conducted April 18 through April 21.

TRUMP ADMIN REVOKES 4K FOREIGN STUDENTS’ VISAS IN FIRST 100 DAYS, NEARLY ALL WITH SERIOUS CRIMINAL RECORDS

His numbers are also underwater in polls released the past few days by ABC News/Washington Post (42% approval–55% disapproval), New York Times/Siena College (42%–54%), CNN (43%–57%), Reuters/Ipsos (42%–53%), Pew Research (40%–59%) and AP/NORC (39%–59%).

Most recent national public opinion surveys, but not all, indicate Trump’s approval ratings in negative territory, which marks a slide from the president’s poll numbers when he started his second term in January.

Before Trump’s rally in Warren, Michigan, the president spoke to members of the National Guard during a visit to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township.

During the stop, Trump shared details of a new plan to swap out the base’s retiring A-10 Warthog aircraft with 21 brand-new F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets.

A teenage girl has been missing for nearly a week, with her ‘anxious’ mother issuing an urgent plea for her to come home.

Hanna Balcer, 14, left her home near New Barnet, north London, on April 24.

She was last spotted at around 5.50pm at New Barnet Rail Station, which has connections to London and Hertfordshire.

The schoolgirl, who is described as 5ft 5ins with brown hair, was wearing a dark tracksuit and black trainers and carrying a black rucksack.

Police believe Hanna may be travelling across the capital and has links to Barnet as well as Shepherd’s Bush and Ladbroke Grove in west London.

Hanna’s mum, Izabela, said, the family are ‘beside themselves with worry’.

‘We urgently need the public’s help to find her,’ she said.

‘Please take a look at these images we are making public today and reach out to the police if you have seen Hanna or have information about her whereabouts.

‘Hanna, if you’re out there reading this, then please pick up the phone.

‘Your family loves you and we are anxious to make sure you’re all right.’

Police say there is no suggestion the girl is in any danger.

Detective Inspector Mark Young said: ‘Hanna’s disappearance is completely out of character and her family are understandably incredibly concerned.

‘Local officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries in an effort to trace her and we are now turning to the public for help. Please get in touch if you have seen Hanna.

‘While there is no suggestion she has come to any harm or is in any immediate danger, as time passes we are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and just want to bring her home safely.’

Pub karaoke was so bad a neighbour said it made them suicidal
London pub's karaoke left residents suicidal
The Pig and Whistle on Bramley Road had its licence reviewed by Kensington and Chelsea Council

A Notting Hill pub has narrowly avoided closure after its karaoke sessions became a living nightmare for its neighbours.

Resident Ray Rose Raymond wrote to Kensington and Chelsea Council complaining that the weekly sing-alongs at the Pig and Whistle were a ‘weekly hell’.

Mr Raymond wrote to the council saying the weekly sing-a-longs were a ‘weekly hell’.

He said: ‘It is particularly bad when a microphone is used and there is karaoke, this is most Friday nights and continues for hours.

‘In a place of grieving I realised I needed time and space to grieve over the festive break from work, and I could not endure the noise any longer. I felt there was no escape.’

Landlady Ann Maher, has defended the pub, saying the saga has cost them £25,000.

She said: ‘We have had to pay for sound proofing and engineers to sort everything as well as legal representation during the hearing.’

London pub's karaoke left residents suicidal
Locals insist the pub on Bramley Road is at the heart of their community

The pub has held the karaoke for the last 10 years and complaints had only started in the last six months, according to Ann. She added that her team have done nothing different to raise the noise levels.

Regulars at the pub in Bramley Road said it is at the heart of their community.

The pub stayed open for 48 hours straight during the Grenfell disaster, helping to feed emergency services and store donations which were flooding in.

Aidan Irish said: ‘This pub is amazing and a huge benefit to the community. If you buy a flat next to a pub expect a bit of noise – and it’s not even that noisy.’

Gary Keane added: ‘I bet this person has no idea of all the help the pub gave their to local residents during the Grenfell fire.’

Another added: ‘I’ve known and loved the Pig my entire life, it always is and has been a place for real locals to gather. This pub is the heart and soul of Notting Dale.’

The council’s licensing committee ruled that group singing should be banned, limiting performances to duets and solos.

Lidl reveals £500,000,000 UK expansion plan with supermarkets in very unexpected places

If you love the Middle of Lidl, but don’t live near enough to a supermarket to truly take advantage of the bizarre bargains, you’re in luck.

That’s because the retailer has announced its going to be expanding across the UK, spending a whopping £500,000,000 opening new stores – and many of these look set to be in London.

Lidl already has more than 120 stores within the M25, but is looking to open hundreds more, with a list of proposed locations being shared in its site requirements brochure for 2025.

In this document, it was revealed that Lidl desires to launch new stores in more than 200 places across London and from Richmond to Chelsea some of the areas on the list are rather unexpected.

While these are only potential locations, not confirmed places where supermarkets will be built, it’s still interesting to see where the budget retailer is setting its sights, especially when it comes to some of the city’s more affluent boroughs.

Other target areas include Barnes, Battersea, Chelsea, Chiswick, Greenwich, Ham, Highgate, Kensington High Street, South Kensington, Knightsbridge, Nine Elms, Kew, Paddington, Richmond town centre, Soho, Mayfair, Teddington, Twickenham, Westminster, Waterloo, and Wimbledon.

There are also a few spots around the capital where the retailer is looking to relocate an existing store – with plans to move sites in Edmonton Green, Finsbury Park, Ilford, Sydenham and Wembley Park.

Speaking about the company’s expansion plans, Richard Taylor, Lidl GB’s chief development officer, said: ‘This level of investment is a clear sign of our ambition.

‘As we enter our fourth decade in Great Britain and hurtle towards a thousand stores, there are still so many parts of the country crying out for convenient access to a Lidl store.’

He added: ‘Our latest site requirements brochure reinforces the scale of our ambition for the future. New Lidl stores mean new jobs, new opportunities for British suppliers, and continued investment into local economies.

‘We’re proud to be one of the fastest-growing supermarkets in the country, and with this investment, we’re taking another big step in our journey.’

This comes after Lidl recently slashed the price of some of its best bakery items to just 29p.

Customers are now able to purchase a Petit Pain or White Crusty Roll for 29p (previously 32p), while the beloved croissant will be going from 65p to 59p.

Other items included in the price drop are the All Butter Pain Au Chocolate, Pain Aux Raisin, Chocolate Twist, Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Almond Croissant, Maple and Pecan Plait, Apple Turnover and the Pastel de Nata.

All of these baked goods were originally 79p, but will have a new price of 69p.

It’s not clear how long this roll back of prices will last for, so if you’re a pastry lover you might want to enjoy the savings while you can.

London’s kinkiest tube line where the most sex toys were left behind
DLR train in Canary Wharf, London, UK.
TfL logs hundreds of thousands of items each year – but what about sex toys? (Picture: Getty Images)

Each year, TfL’s lost property office logs hundreds of thousands of items – and each one is individually recorded and in lucky cases, reunited with its owner.

A few wallets here and a hat or two there are easy enough to sort: but what about the countless sex toys that end up separated from their partners?

Now, a cheeky Freedom of Information Request has revealed the TfL transport line that’s seen the highest number of sex toys end up in the lost and found over the last couple of years.

Any guesses? It’s the Circle Line, famed for its air conditioning, wide carriages, and now, the sex lives of its forgetful passengers.

Mapping the number of sex toys deserted across various services, data from TfL showed that in 2024, 20 were found across the capital.

Eight were found on their own, while 12 were nestled inside a bag. And no, we’re not sure whether they were rabbits or bullets.

There was a happy ending for two of these lost items though, which were successfully returned to their intended owners. We’re just hoping they were given a good clean afterwards.

In 2023, six toys were found all alone across the Big Smoke, while 14 were found inside a bag. Again, two managed to be reunited with their owners.

Five toys were found at five Circle Line stations in 2023 and 2024 – including Barbican, Cannon Street, Edgware Road, Paddington, and Westminster.

Four toys were found at Elizabeth Line stations in 2024 – including Abbey Wood, Gidea Park, Paddington, and Shenfield.

It wasn’t just the Circle and Elizabeth Lines though: absent-minded passengers were also boarding the other TfL services and leaving a crucial member on board.

In 2023 and 2024, pleasure devices were found at Barbican, Camden Town, Cannon Street, Earl’s Court, and Edgware Road, to name a few. Honourable mentions also went to Hammersmith, as well as High Barnet, London Bridge, Waterloo, and Willesden Green.

Bus garages were also a relatively common occurrence, with the most common location being Stockwell down in South London.

Camberwell, Merton, Northumberland Park, and Putney also appeared on the list, as did nearby Vauxhall.

So, how do these locations rank on Lovehoney’s 2025 Sex Map?

Across the UK, Greenwich, which is home to Abbey Wood, landed in 709th place for the number of vibrators purchased, and slightly higher for strap-ons in 593rd.

When it comes to dressing up in the bedroom, the French Maid is the costume of choice for Greenwich residents, while the favourite flavour of lube is a cheeky cherry.

The top 10 postcodes that buy the biggest dildos, according to Lovehoney

  1. Hereford – 7.13 inches
  2. Jersey – 7.11 inches
  3. Inverness – 7.10 inches
  4. Twickenham – 7.09 inches
  5. Hemel Hempstead – 7.07 inches
  6. Doncaster – 7.04 inches
  7. Wigan – 7.03 inches
  8. Peterborough – 7.03 inches
  9. Halifax – 7.01 inches
  10. Norwich – 7.00 inches.

Elsewhere on the Elizabeth Line, Westminster (where Paddington is located) ranks 657th for vibrators, 520th for strap-ons, and 321st for butt plugs.

And while they may share a penchant for fruit-flavoured lube with Greenwich, their dildos are actually slightly longer on average, at 6.8” rather than 6.6”.

Meanwhile, in Brentwood, the borough Shenfield residents call home, dildos are a big event, as they measure 7.2” on average.

Vibrators see them rank 334th, and they’re also relatively into their role play, ranking 248th in the country.

Undoubtedly though, Lambeth – which houses both Stockwell and Vauxhall bus station, where some beloved toys were left abandoned – is significantly kinkier, placing 171st in the country for vibrators and 84th for butt plugs specifically. The more you know, after all.
